Be Green at Bungarra
Bungarra Alpine Centre is recognised as a valued local citizen through our support to the local community and local partnerships with other companies. We are also keenly aware of our responsibility to the Australian environment.
We established our green initiatives in 2006 committing to:
- Planting 40 trees on our property each year for 10 years to offset our electricity consumption
- Recycling paper and plastic
- Reduce our dependence on town water
- Improving the energy efficiency of our buildings
- Installation of rain water tanks to all buildings by 2010
So far we have:
- Planted 80 new trees next to the oval and Junction
- Installed 100,000 liters of rainwater storage which now flushes our toilets
- Connected to bore water supplemented by our dam, for watering our oval
- Removed all wood fireplaces and replaced them with energy efficient gas fireplaces, reducing levels of carbon dioxide generated
- Redeveloped East and West Lodge to an energy efficient standard, which exceeds our Basic Compliance. This will be one of the most energy efficient buildings in the Snowy Mountains Region
- Installed 38 water efficient shower heads across our site
We remain committed to improving our energy efficiency and aim to become a carbon neutral organisation.
You can assist by:
- Turning off lights when not in use
- Having short showers
